Cookie note

Short version: this site sets no cookies of its own, measures nothing about you, and keeps exactly one small entry in your browser — and only if you answer the notice at the bottom of the page.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a site asks your browser to keep and hand back on the next request. Related technologies — local storage, session storage — do a similar job without travelling back to the server. Irish law treats all of them the same way through the European Communities (Electronic Communications Networks and Services) (Privacy and Electronic Communications) Regulations 2011, S.I. No. 336/2011, which requires consent for anything that is not strictly necessary.

What this site stores

One entry, in session storage, under the key eb.cookie.seen. It records that you answered the notice, so it stops reappearing as you move between pages. It holds one word, it never leaves your device, it is not sent anywhere, and your browser discards it when the tab closes. That is the entire list.

There is no analytics cookie here, no advertising cookie, no identifier, no fingerprinting script, no embedded video or social widget. Since nothing on this site profiles anyone, there is nothing for a consent choice to switch on or off — the notice exists to tell you that, not to unlock hidden tracking.

Cloudflare

These pages are delivered through Cloudflare, which sits between the server and your browser. To tell automated traffic from human traffic, Cloudflare may set a strictly technical cookie of its own, such as __cf_bm; it is short-lived, it carries no advertising identifier and it is not readable by us. Cloudflare also adds a small performance script to pages it serves, which reports how quickly the page rendered and sets no cookie at all. Both are described in the data policy.

Categories, honestly

• Strictly necessary: the Cloudflare technical cookie described above, plus the single session-storage entry that remembers your answer to the notice.
• Performance and analytics: none of ours. Cloudflare’s script measures page rendering without cookies.
• Advertising and marketing: none. No advertising runs on this site.

Taking control

Every browser can clear stored site data and block cookies, usually under settings named privacy, site settings or site data; closing the tab already removes the session entry this site uses. Private or incognito windows discard everything at the end of the session. Blocking storage entirely will not break these pages — the notice will simply appear again each time.
